Dear Friends,The Kalamazoo Institute of Art, in collaboration with Adams Outdoor Advertising, is holding a competition for artists throughout Michigan and the Top 10 artists will have a billboard devoted to each artist’s artwork for one year. The field of applicants has been narrowed down from 72 to 20, and I am happy to report that I am among those 20 artists. It is now up to the public to vote and select the Top 10 artists.

Any and all votes for my work will be greatly appreciated. I feel that I am at a slight disadvantage in this competition because I don’t have a presence on either Facebook or Twitter… there are some tricks that this ‘old dog’ just won’t try! Therefore, I am asking that you please tell your family and friends about this competition and how they can help me become one of the Top 10 artists simply by casting their votes on line. The competition for this contest is fierce; I personally know many of the other artists and their work is top notch. Many of these artists have large followings on the web. Thus, I am hoping, that with your help in spreading the word, we can mount a strong, grass-roots effort to put me into the Top 10.

I don’t have any super PACs supporting me and I promise that there will be no robo-calls to your phones. I only ask that you, your family members with different IP addresses, and your friends consider voting for my work as often as you feel appropriate.

To vote for your favorite artist, go to www.kiarts.org/billboardart. There, you will find my name and 5 examples of my work among the 20 finalists. You can vote for your favorite artist once per day from April 3-17, 2012.
